"Twenty years ago, I moved to the Midwestern United States from California to pursue a lifelong interest in forecasting and observing tornadic thunderstorms. My objective is to make compositions that are intriguing, convincing, and capture something eerily familiar. Having spent five years studying the sciences in college, my work often tends to suggest a scientific curiosity about things. However, I find getting a painting to the point where the sense of atmosphere and light is beyond question to be the unending challenge that is fundamental to my intentions." -Daniel Chaffee
