Food, fashion, and female fantasies are the focus of the curiously narrative paintings that make up Elizabeth Shreve’s debut exhibit with the Gallery. The Chicago artist presents a pastel world laden with meticulously detailed birds and icons of domesticity. Her vulnerable heroines stand suspended between the good advice that frames the paintings, and a sense of something darker lurking just beyond the frame. Shreve is a practicing psychologist and has earned an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
