Congratulations to Jennifer Price, a senior painting major at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) and winner of the 5th Annual Gallery Project. Chosen from 5 finalists, Price is awarded the opportunity to exhibit and sell her artwork in the Gallery from April 16 – May 1, 2010.
Jennifer Price paints loose and colorful abstractions as reinventions of what she imagines distant memories to look like. An accumulation of carefully chosen colors and shapes relate to one another as in a dance. Price’s large-scale canvases reveal memories in a multitude of relationships and conversations filling the picture plane, while her intimate works on panel communicate more concise and vivid memories.
The Gallery Project is a collaboration between the Tory Folliard Gallery and local art colleges which aims to provide art students with an insider's look into the art business. The Gallery Project debuted in April 2006 and alternates between MIAD and UW-Milwaukee each spring.
