Fatemeh Fani is a photographer whose work examines American cultur through the perspective of an outsider shaped by her upbringing in Iran. After immigrating to the United Stat s, she b gan xploring themes of dual identity; displacement; and belonging; while also addressing issues of restriction and exclusion faced by women in Iran.
Her work frequently references the mandatory hijab as both a personal and political syn,bol, using photography to reflect on visibility; freedom, and resilience. Fani earned a B.A. in Photography from the University of Tehran and is currently pursuing her
M.F.A. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including at the Museum of Wisconsin Art.
