Fatemeh Fani
Fatemeh Fani is a photographer whose work examines American culture through the perspective of an outsider shaped by her upbringing in Iran. After immigrating to the United States, she began exploring themes of dual identity, displacement, and belonging, while also addressing issues of restriction and exclusion faced by women in Iran.
Her work frequently references the mandatory hijab as both a personal and political symbol, using photography to reflect on visibility, freedom, and resilience. Fani earned a B.A. in Photography from the University of Tehran and is currently pursuing her
M.F.A. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including at the Museum of Wisconsin Art.
