Doug Hatch is a Wisconsin painter known for his photorealistic depictions of urban landscapes, interiors, and plein air scenes. His work emphasizes the contrasting relationship between color and space, light and shadow. Fascinated by how illumination transforms surfaces, Hatch anchors his compositions with meticulous detail while heightening their impact through bold, saturated hues. Reflective elements and carefully observed lighting allow him to capture the exact mood of a moment in time. Influenced by Edward Hopper and Richard Estes, Hatch portrays both natural and urban environments with a focus on magnifying the quiet beauty of everyday life.

“The urban landscape is always in flux, lit up; the constant changeling. Reinventing itself or sometimes just making do by hanging on, is what keeps it fresh, alluring, and worthy of capturing in all its simple complexities” - Doug Hatch

Hatch studied art at the University of Wisconsin - Fond du Lac and the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. His Wisconsin exhibitions include the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, the Overture Center for the Arts, and the James Watrous Gallery at the Wisconsin Academy. His paintings are in many corporate and private collections across the country.
