Professional Dimensions, a professional women’s organization serving the greater Milwaukee area since 1978, has announced the selection of its 2016 Sacagawea artist, whose work will honor the winners of the 2016 Sacagawea award. Katie Musolff is a full time artist from Stoddard, Wisconsin, whose primary media is watercolor.
Professional Dimension’s Sacagawea Award was created in 1982. Recipients are two trail-blazing women chosen for their career accomplishments, commitment to community and support of the advancement of women. Ms. Musolff will create three unique pieces of art, one for each winner, and one that will reside in the permanent Sacagawea collection at Alverno College.
In the artist statement Katie submitted with her application to be the 2016 Sacagawea Artist she said: “I am proposing to make three watercolor paintings featuring a bird as the main subject. Working with birds has grown to become very special to me. They are so intricate, beautiful and quirky creatures and I find that their image can be quite powerful on paper.” Samples of her wonderful work can be found on her website at www.katiemusolff.com.
The 2016 Sacagawea winners will be chosen by a committee composed of community leaders and will be announced in early 2016. According to Valerie Johnson, this year’s chair of the Sacagawea event, “Professional Dimensions is thrilled with the selection of Katie as this year’s artist. She was chosen from a pool of many applicants and we felt that her beautiful work would best honor this year’s award winners.”
