MICHAEL NOLAND

Viewing Room

Michael Noland's paintings are based on traditional American scenes molded to his unique vision. Noland creates vitality through exaggeration in form, repetition of lines, and saturation of color. Common views and unique animals seem both darkly surreal and amusing. Nature pulsates with life and colors reverberate with an electric charge. The artist has enjoyed over ten museum exhibitions across the country and is an NEA fellowship recipient.

MARK CHATTERLEY

Award-winning sculptor, Mark Chatterley, creates ceramic animals that directly engage the viewer on an almost human level. Ranging in height from six inches to twelve feet, each piece is unique and hand-built. Chatterley’s signature crater glaze allows him to create a variety of surfaces ranging from shiny metallics to crusty, lava-like textures resembling rusted metal or weathered stone. The sculptures are fired in a walk-in kiln that allows him to work on a larger-than-life scale. They are high-fired to give them the durability to be displayed outdoors year-round.

A Michigan native, Chatterley earned a BFA and an MFA from Michigan State University.  He has exhibited nationally and internationally receiving numerous awards.
