Contemporary trompe l'oeil techniques continue to amaze viewers in Ron Isaacs’ beautifully painted wood sculptures. But beyond the technical and optical illusion aspects, more important to Isaacs is the dimension of emotional connections that his work evokes: nostalgia, wistfulness, whimsy, and delight. Items from nature, such as twigs and leaves, as well as vintage clothing, are a recurring motif of the artist’s work that hearkens back to his own personal history.
