“Gestural” Series
Known for his sweeping, energetic gestures, Michael Hedges creates dynamic and striking contemporary abstract paintings, building surfaces charged with color, line, and form. In his exhibition Take the Ride, Hedges presents a variety of series that explore his core interest in color relationships through diverse palettes and application styles.
In his Gestura, Hedges’ signature gestural brushwork gives way to crisp lines and flowing curves evocative of natural forms. Here, the thick application of media is used more selectively, serving as an accent rather than a dominant feature. The vibrancy and glow of his color palette evoke the freshness and vitality of spring and early summer.
