Fred Stonehouse

Fred Stonehouse draws inspiration from outsider art and folk traditions, creating paintings filled with fantastical hybrid figures and richly detailed self-portraits. His work carries religious and surreal overtones, balanced by a sharp sense of humor and rebellion that gives the imagery both charm and edge. Blending human, animal, and plant forms, Stonehouse's figures inhabit symbolic worlds where meaning remains open-ended, inviting viewers into a more mystical way of seeing the world.

Stonehouse holds a B.F.A. from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and he has enjoyed many museum exhibitions, including a solo exhibition at the Museum of Wisconsin Art. His work can be found in select public and private collections across the United States, including the Milwaukee Art Museum, San Jose Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, and the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.

Jessica Calderwood

Jessica Calderwood is a painter and metalsmith whose work draws upon traditional craft media for both their creative possibilities and historical associations. Here Sculptures explore themes of vulnerability, resilience, and identity. By partially obscuring her figures with layers of materials, she creates works that simultaneously conceal and reveal aspects of the human condition.

Mark Mulhern

Wisconsin figurative artist Mark Mulhern casts himself as a quiet observer, depicting his subjects in moments of arrested movement and drawing attention to subtle gestures and quiet anticipation. He often opts for anonymity over identity when portraying figures, allowing body language to communicate inner presence and offering an alternative approach to portraiture.

Mulhern received his B.F.A from the layton school of art in milwaukee and his M.FA. from the university of Wisconsin-Madison. He furthered his studies in Paris with renowned printmaker S.W Hayter at Atelier 17. His paintings, drawings, and prints can be found in private and public collections across the country, including the Musesum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Milwaukee Art Museum, among others.

Mary Bero

Combining fiber arts, painting, and sculpture, Mary Bero is a mixed-media artist who crafts imagery reminiscent of both fears and dreams. Based in Wisconsin, she incorporates traditional and nontraditional needlework techniques, building cohesive compositions from smaller, mark-making elements.

She has been awarded two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, and her work can be found in private and public collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Milwaukee Art Museum, among others.

T.L. Solien

T.L. Solien is an artist who creates illusory scenes reflecting on the contemporary unraveling of culture through paintings, drawings, mixed-media cut-outs, and sculpture, he blends traditional abstraction and figurative elements with references drawn from his personal heritage. Using expressive color and imaginative imagery, he often constructs paradoxical narratives that draw on his Scandinavian heritage, family memories, and art and literature from the past.

Solien received his B.A. from Moorhead State University and his M.F.A. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. A recipient of numerous honors, including a Joan Mitchell Foundation Fellowship, his work is in public and private collections throughout the United States, among them the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Tate Modern, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Milwaukee Art Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago.

TD Brenner

T.D. Brenner combines modernist influences with pared-down visual language to capture the essence of the idwestern experience. Working in thematic series, he employs recurring motifs, including animals, figures, and everyday objects, to build compositions that are both visually engaging and quietly symbolic.

Brenner earned a B.F.A from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and an M.F.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has exhibited extensively throughout the region, including at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.

Bill Reid is known for his whimsical metal sculptures of imagined creatures inspired by storytelling, wordplay, and his own inventive folklore. Brightly painted and often mechanical or toy-like in appearance, his works transform industrial materials into lively characters filled with humor, curiosity, and personality.

Reid earned a B.F.A from the Kansas City Art Institute and an M.F.A from Cranbrook Academy of Art. His work is represented in public and private collections throughout the United States, including the Racine Art Museum and the National Music Museum. Reid currently has a retrospective taking place at the Miller Art Museum in Sturegen Bay, Wisconsin.

Kate Goodvin is a multidisciplinary artist whose work examines the transition from girlhood to womanhood in the twenty-first century. Drawing from her own coming-of-age experiences, she explores themes of childhood innocence, adolescent turbulence, and personal growth. By combining screen printing with quilted textiles, Goodvin created layered tapestries that feel both intimate and physically rich.

Goodvin earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and is currently pursuing her MFA at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the aichiprfacture museum of art in Japan dnd the Figge Art Museum.
