Community members helped to welcome the art of Mary Jones to Ingersoll Avenue at a ribbon cutting on the site of the corridor’s first DART art shelter. A dedication ceremony was held on June 21, 2023, near the shelter at 2103 Ingersoll Avenue as part of Art Week Des Moines celebrations. Remarks were given by The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand, by DART, the City of Des Moines, and the artist Mary Jones. The shelters are part of an effort by DART to “enhance the experience of riding DART, enliven streetscapes, and support regional connectivity by serving as visual landmarks and moments of creative inspiration while reinforcing a positive image of public transportation.”
