Bethann Moran Handzlik Earned Best of Show at the 2023 Door County Plein Air Festival hosted by the Peninsula School of Art in Door County, Wisconsin judged by Lori Putnam. Bethann is Looking forward to being the featured artist and painting at the festival again in 2024.
Combining joyous brushwork and careful observation, the seasoned Wisconsin painter Bethann Moran Handzlik generates works that are at once accurate and poetic. The artist takes large format canvases into the landscape to paint from direct observation, while also engaging her imagination and memory. The paintings are accomplished in all seasons and the artist is equally invigorated painting outside in cold winter landscapes, spring woodlands, or sunlit gardens.
Moran Handzlik will travel to Scotland to teach a field drawing course and paint from January - May 2024. When she returns home to Wisconsin her solo show will open at Tory Folliard Gallery, Milwaukee WI. The exhibition will feature several large plein-air paintings.
