It is always a pleasure to visit an artist in the studio. We recently had the good fortune of meeting with artist T.L. Solien who showed us his new body of work, created during his sabbatical and inspired by a long trip to the western states. Clearly T.L. Solien has been busy as seen in the wall of mixed media collages on paper above.
A continuation of his Westward Expansion series, T.L. is inspired by vernacular photographs and these 8×10 inch gems are replete with psycho-sexual overtones, biomorphic figures, and his familiar, iconic symbols. Always examining history and his place in the world and expressing his findings though his art, T.L. Solien‘s work is personal, but omnipresent in the way it reaches the viewer.
Tory Folliard Gallery will be exhibiting T.L. Solien‘s new body of work in 2012. Details to follow, but expect a large group of collages beautifully presented in T.L. hand made frames, and some larger works on paper.
