Chris Berti's inviting sculptures of animals and everyday sculptural objects teem with whimsy and wonder. His new sculptures are each methodically made from found ceramic drainage tiles, turn of the century antique bricks, cut logs, marble, and granite.

Artists’ Reception: Friday, November 20, 5 – 7:30pm
Chris Berti carves vintage ceramic paving stones into small scale sculptures. Attracted by the variation in color and texture of the 1890’s material, his animal, bird and other natural imagery incorporate the bricks’ shape, earthy colors, and at times, text of the brick manufacturer.

Sculptor Chris Berti is fascinated with the colors and textures of 19th century brick paving stones. The amazing warmth and variety will be evident in his small scale sculptures incorporating the brick’s shape, earth colors, and at times, text of the brick manufacturer with carved imagery. Berti, an active NCECA exhibitor, has been the recipient of numerous awards and has work in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, Washington, DC; Cranbrook Art Museum, Bloomfield Hills, MI; and the Frederick Meijer Sculpture Park, Grand Rapids, MI.
