We are pleased to have internationally recognized artist Beth Lipman participating in our exhibition “The Object Transcended”. In her ongoing efforts to pay homage to traditional still life with contemporary glass, Lipman will be showing new glass sculpture and limited edition prints of her sculpture.
Illustrating the connection between still life painting and work made from traditional craft processes, Beth Lipman strives to capture the exact likeness of an object. The clarity of the glass in her sculptures express the essence of the still life, but moves them to a new dimension.
Lipman‘s limited edition prints take the process one step further by using photography to capture the moment of the three dimensional composition. A small number of prints are made to the exact size of the original composition. The glass is then destroyed and recycled making the glass unattainable.
Meet Beth Lipman, Betsy Youngquist, Mitchiko Itatami, and Clare Malloy, on Saturday, December 3rd during the opening reception of “The Object Transcended.”
