The term sounding refers to taking a measurement in deep water or the process of observing and analyzing atmospheric conditions. Jason Rohlf‘s new series, Soundings reflects his interest in exploring these ideas through paint and collage. Although he is working on flat surfaces, his asymmetrical, organic compositions suggest space, movement, and a compelling energy, perfectly balanced through color and texture. The work in Soundings is a continuation of Rohlf‘s keen observation, imagined measurements, and Soundings is Rohlf‘s fifth solo exhibition with Tory Folliard Gallery.

Jason Rohlf has been very busy making new work for his upcoming show “Soundings” at Tory Folliard Gallery. The work in Soundings is a continuation of Rohlf’s keen observation, imagined measurements. Persist is an acrylic painting on four linen panels, measuring 15×60 inches. A kaleidoscope of shapes and colors suggest lively movement and dynamic perspective. The surface of this work is rich yer subtle, with expressive texture and layering. We look forward to Jason Rohlf‘s opening “Soundings” and artist reception on Gallery Night, Friday, October 21st.

Always with an eye for detail, Brautigam worked with a custom box maker in New York to produce this elegant, cloth covered archival repository for this collection. Each print is stored in individual, acid free sleeves so that the images can be safely viewed. It is so pristine that we have to keep it in back, but it is available for viewing upon request.
